Times are changing, and South Florida’s Real Estate market is not unaffected. A recent study shows an increase in the number of couples purchasing a home prior to their wedding date. At Bishop Realty Associates, we have seen this happen firsthand, as we cater to a wide client base, from retirees buying a second or third home, to first time homebuyers in their 20’s and early 30’s. According to the survey, only 14 percent of married couples who are 45 or older bought their first home before their wedding date. Meanwhile, 25 percent of married couples aged 18 to 35 purchased a home prior to their wedding date.
According to some experts, the reason for this trend may be related to the fact that younger generations are more career-focused and waiting longer to get married and start a family. However, they see no reason to delay their dreams of homeownership. At Bishop Realty Associates, we believe this trend may be directly related to the fact that with historically low mortgage interest rates and lower home prices, younger generations see an unprecedented opportunity to take advantage of this housing market, before the opportunity is lost.
Studies found that about thirty-five percent of married homeowners wish they had bought a home earlier than they did. So, what are you waiting for? Contact us to find your new home in Homestead, Florida City, Kendall, Cutler Bay or surrounding areas in South Miami-Dade today!
