Happy New Year! As we kick off 2016, it’s time to take a fresh look at every area of your life. Most people will review elements like health and fitness, personal finances and budgeting, while others will take a close look at their homes. Here are three steps to energize your space for 2016.
1. Shed Some Light
Whether you realize it or not, the lights in your home fade over time. Bulbs get old or burn out and the styles for lighting fixtures are constantly changing. There’s no better way to breathe new life into your life than to bring in bright, new lighting fixtures. By replacing light bulbs or removing bulky lamp shades, you may be able to see a room in a whole new light (literally).
2. Add One-Of-A-Kind Pieces
Take the time to visit local antique stores or junk stores to find original pieces for your home. You can also search online using Krrb. If you’re feeling crafty, you can find deeply discounted pieces on Craigslist to update to match your style. Add personal touches to old pieces by repainting and replacing knobs and pulls.
3. Remove Outdated Elements
In the past few years, “rustic chic” made a huge comeback in every area from weddings to dining rooms. But it may be time to reevaluate those design fads as we move into 2016. Many home design professionals estimate that mason jars, burlap fabric and chalkboard paint are all on their way out. Of course, tropical accents are timeless in South Florida home decorating and may be a good replacement to consider.
As we begin another year, you may want to take a look at your home design and refresh a few things to set yourself up for a happy, prosperous 2016. Also, how is your real estate investment shaping up in the market? If you don’t know, give us a call or send us an email. We would love to help!
